Brotherhood Run for Royal Marines
I’m taking on the Brotherhood Challenge running 25km in May to support the Royal Marines Charity.
This challenge is about showing up, putting in the miles, and shining a light on the challenges faced by serving and former Royal Marines and their families. Every step I take helps fund practical support, from mental health services and recovery programmes to financial help for those who need it.
I’ve had little training over the past 2 years, so I’m keeping it short to stay injury free but every bit counts. If you can, please support my challenge, any donation makes a difference.
Thanks for backing me!

Saturday 30th MayRMA Virtual Challenge Update
What started as a goal of 25km for the RMA Virtual Challenge somehow turned into 32.5miles of hiking (not including all the dog-walking miles!), covering a total elevation gain of 11,978ft (3,651m).
That included three Welsh half mountains plus Pen-y-Ghent, completed over a total hiking time of 19 hours and 54 minutes (not all in one go, thankfully!).
Most weekends were spent heading from Leeds to North Wales after a long week juggling two jobs, trading sleep for mountains, fresh air and a challenge that means a lot to me. Tired legs, plenty of miles, and some incredible memories along the way.
A huge thank you to my two special friends, Ibby and Alex, for their support, encouragement and for making these adventures so memorable. And a special shout-out to Ibby, who was so worried about his fitness before we started. You absolutely smashed it! If the weather hadn’t turned against us on a couple of occasions, I think you’d have dragged us all the way to the summit. Love you, mate! 😁
The highlights included:
🏕️ 10th May – Kinder Scout
A wild camping trip with four doggies, a freezing cold night once the sun went down, and a backpack weighing around 35kg. Thankfully Kinder Scout isn’t the highest hill, but it still felt like a proper workout carrying all that kit uphill!
❄️ 17th May – Glyder Fach
An unforgettable day that quickly turned challenging when we got caught in brutal snow hail. We had to descend quickly as conditions worsened, but we still made it safely up and down.
🌅 26th May – Y Garn
My favourite mountain. We enjoyed an epic day in the hills before finishing with a stunning sunset and camping on the Penmon coastline.
In two words: unforgettable memories.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, shared the page or cheered me on. Every pound raised helps support the incredible work of the Royal Marines Charity and their mental health and wellbeing programmes.
The challenge doesn’t stop here. Next up is a 2-mile swim across Windermere on 12th June to continue raising funds for this amazing charity.
Wish us luck! 💙
And if you’d still like to donate, every contribution is hugely appreciated. Thank you for your support. 🙏

Good luck Lucy
